EXTERNAL NATURE, 2020
Solo show at Delfi, Malmö SE
The exhibition investigates the Western concept of nature –What role does the nature concept play in capitalist ideology and how has the concept been formed in accordance with the production process? What does it mean that nature is understood as both external and universal and is there a “going back to nature”? By challenging the concept of nature - one that we often take for granted - Vibe Overgaard raises questions about the way in which we as humans place ourselves in our surroundings and take responsibility for our position. The exhibition consists of a video-essay and a series of sculptural objects.
The ceramic relief in the exhibition is based on
a wooden carving from rural Denmark ca 17th century.
The stools are based on pre-industrial
Northern European furniture and the framed picture
is as well a reproduction of a wood-cut from this period.
